Wow, we didn’t even get this newsletter written in the first half of the month! Yikes
We’ll blame that on how busy everything is around here. We know, you hear that every month. But the gardens are in full swing, the markets are going, and we have a animals in every corner of the farm, so we are busy. And just like you, our social calendars seem to get fuller in the warmer months…
So briefly, here are a few things to look forward to:
Products – As a result of our inability to say “no” to anything, we decided to raise some meat chickens over the past month. We always have our laying flock (and the cauled hens and roosters that result), but these birds will be young and tender and available at market next week. For fun-sees I attached the greatest recipe ever for cooking a whole chicken. (This recipe will ruin all others😉
You can expect strawberries, cauliflower, potatoes, onions, and garlic at our markets very soon and bacon and parsley parmesan now..
Our pigs are rocking, so expect even more pork available at markets. We continue to pull down our prosciutto hams, so come get some of that. And be sure to give us a heads up for any barbecuing plans you have this summer.
If you’re missing beef, the folks at Braeburn are still selling it. Come out to our joint farm store (Thursdays 2-6, Sat 10-4), where you can pick up any beef, pork, veggies, chicken, and ducks. The Braeburn crew also sells at the new farmers market at Company Shops coop in Burlington on Saturdays.
As for our markets, Saturdays in Saxapahaw have started. Come out for some music, a picnic, and a great farmers market. Starts at 5pm. We are also at Carrboro on Wed 3:30-6:30, and Sat 7-12. And we are still selling our product in conjunction with Summer’s Farm at the Greensboro Curb Market. Be sure to order if you would like anything specific.
