We hope everyone is looking forward to the 4th. It’s always nice to have a mid-week celebration.
Just a couple things about the farm:
– There will be a Carrboro market on tomorrow (Tuesday 3:30-6:30), and not one on Wednesday. Come get some grilling meat.
– The gardens are looking amazing and the first tomatoes are starting to turn wonderful colors of red, purple, orange, and yellow. We have eggplant and cucumbers to add to the onions, potatoes, and basil at the market.
– We’re sending off more bellies to be turned into bacon, but we do have some prosciutto. We still have lamb and goat and will again have lamb in a few weeks, and there are some meat chickens left.
Besides that, it’s been hot and dry but the animals are doing just fine. We’re continuing to breed our turkeys for the fall. We’re still moving our farm onto Cane Creek’s 35 acres (away from sharing land with Braeburn). We’re doing this partially by downsizing (fewer types of animals), but also by trimming up our operation, becoming more efficient and rotating our animals in the best way possible.
Try to enjoy the summer as it flys by. Come visit us at the store, Thursdays 2-6 and Saturdays 10-4, where you can pick up Braeburn beef as well. You can also send us beef-related emails and we’ll pass them along (they should have their website up soon). Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July, and remember, fireworks are great
