April 5 Updates

Greetings from the farm!

The high tunnel is up (!!) thanks to a tremendous effort in the cold and wind from Willy, Grace, Jason, Alena and crew. We’re so happy to have Alena back from her vacation and we’ve been up late planting tons of tomatoes. In the (still) cold soil we’re growing leeks, garlic, potatoes, onions, lots of spring greens, lettuce, cauliflower, and broccoli  All the plants and animals are begging for more sunshine and less rain. Is spring settling in yet? Next week we should be sending out pictures of hatching ducks and turkeys. Baby ducks rival piglets in cuteness with their big flirty eyes and baby turkeys look as you might imagine – like miniature dinosaurs. We can’t wait to meet them. Our young chickens are having a big week – they are learning to perch!

We will not be at the Greensboro market this week. Come out to the farm store or find us at the Carrboro market. We’ll have duck and chicken eggs, lots of fresh pork, and prosciutto. We’ve got goat and lamb on the way!
Spread the word – you can now order prosciutto on our website! We’ll ship twice a month and it’ll be delivered to your doorstep.
We hope to see you out tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be perfect for market. Let’s hope it’s finally spring!
