Clover, our oldest sow delivered her 14th litter on Cane Creek Farm this week. Hard to let her stop when she still makes such nice nests and has cute babies. As you can see in the picture, the babies are very small and size discrepancies are a problem as the sow gets much older and bigger and the litters get smaller and smaller both in number and in size.
It’s going to be 90 degrees today which makes us all feel hot, dry and cranky, but we’re also sad knowing this is probably the last of nice swimming weather. Fall greens continue to pour in. We had a near record day on Wednesday.
Tomorrow at the markets we have duck and chicken eggs, all of our usual pork products, goat, and duck. This is the last of the garlic and potatoes. We’ll have collards, bok choy, lettuce, basil, eggplant, okra and peppers. Go to our website to order your Thanksgiving turkeys: http://www.canecreekfarm.us/
See you at the markets.
