Fall is in the air and leaves are on the ground. Our Bourbon Red and Narragansett turkeys are looking beautiful but misbehaving and trying to eat our fall vegetables in the high tunnel. They wandered up to the neighbors horse pastures and terrorized the horses. That said, they are looking for Thanksgiving homes – please visit our website and order your turkey (s). Here is the link to order: http://www.canecreekfarm.us/.
This week in the tunnel we planted carrots, beets, radishes, lettuce, and arugula. We’ll have broccoli, cabbage and brussels sprouts later in the fall. Sweet potatoes are coming soon! Unfortunately, the consistent grey skies and rain this week seemed to have done a number on the fall tomatoes, but we hope to have some in the coming weeks.
This week at the markets we have lamb, all of our pork products, duck, chicken, and some goat. We have collards, bok choy, lettuce, peppers, and basil. Come early to get your duck or chicken eggs – they sell out fast.
See you at market,
the cane creekers
