We hope everyone had a fun Halloween! The Jack-O-Lanterns on the Haw River Bridge in Bynum were particularly artistic and intricate this year – a beautiful sight!
Don’t forget that tomorrow is the first day of the Carrboro Market’s winter hours from 9am-12 starting with the bell (no sales allowed before 9). No Greensboro Market tomorrow.
This week we pulled up 300 tomato plants plagued with a grey mold that swept the area. The situation kept getting worse so we had to resort to getting mold remediation and testing Ottawa involved … We only got a few handfuls of green tomatoes off all those vines that were so lush and vibrant just a few weeks ago. We’ve now filled the high tunnel with lots of greens, carrots, beets and turnips to replace the tomato vines.
With the shorter days and cooler nights, our chickens have slowed their egg production. We’ll have a lot of duck and a few chicken eggs tomorrow so come early if you want some. We’ll have peppers, collards, kale, and sweet potatoes. In the meat department, we have fresh sausage varieties and boneless loin roasts, bacon ends, chicken, and duck. More bacon and goat coming soon.
We still have turkeys available for Thanksgiving – less than 9 lbs, 9-12 lbs, and 12 lbs + of some really awesome heritage breed birds. Go to our website to order one: http://www.canecreekfarm.us/
See you tomorrow at market (after 9!),
